Welcome to Family Faith Formation
The religious education program here at Corpus Christi Saint Bernard's parish is not like the other programs around. It is built to support the parents who are the primary educators of their children's faith; our program aims to give them tools and encouragement to make the faith come alive in the home. The second critical component to our program is the family participation in the sacramental life of the church; making the Mass and the Eucharist the center of all of its efforts. Fr. Dan and the parish staff cannot stress enough the importance of encountering Christ in the Mass above all else. Therefore this program requires family engagement throughout the year as at each level parents are invited to attend the program with their children. Without reinforcing these lessons at home the program will be fruitless and without reinforcing the lessons by attending weekly Mass the program will be meaningless.
First Reconciliation and First Communion (Grade 2)
First Reconciliation and First Communion are usually made in the 2nd grade. A child needs to have attended a Religious Ed program in grade 1 or have attended Catholic School. All children attending Catholic School wishing to make the sacraments at our parish, need to be registered and attend the workshops. Parents/guardians are requested to attend all parent meetings as well.
Confirmation is a 2 year journey typically beginning in Grade 9. Candidates must have completed grades 7 and 8 of Religious Education in a parish or private school setting.
The Confirmation Program prepares our young people to recognize and embrace the Gifts of The Holy Spirit in their daily lives. Candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation are required to participate in regular sessions, service projects benefiting the community, attend Mass on a regular basis, and attend a retreat each year of the 2 year process. Those who attend a Catholic High School are required to commit to the full process of preparation as well.
