Our Child Abuse Prevention initiatives educate all volunteers and the broader parish on ways of recognizing and preventing child abuse. We continue to seek ways of offering a safe environment for all, young and old alike. Our program includes: classroom presentations offered by trained individuals, printed and other media materials focusing on the prevention of abuse and the overall protection of children and youth.
Participants are informed on ways to recognize abuse in all its forms, the signs and symptoms that indicate when a child or youth is abused, exploited and/or neglected in some way, and environmental factors to be aware of within the confines of the parish, such as classrooms and other meeting spaces. These presentations show how abusers operate and what families can do to help educate their children and how to respond to inappropriate behavior directed at them.
